Istanbul Gold Refinery issues both cast gold bars and minted ingots. Its cast gold bar lineup remains modest and includes only the popular 1,000 Gram option. Its minted gold bars offer more options, with weights ranging from 1/2 Gram, 1 Gram, and these 2.5 Gram bars up to 100 Grams and 1 Troy oz.

On the obverse face of 2.5 Gram Istanbul Gold Refinery Gold Bars are a number of different engravings. All markings are listed vertically from top to bottom, starting with the Istanbul Gold Refinery initials of “IGR” at the top. Below this are the markings of the weight, metal content, and purity of the bars. At the bottom of the obverse face is the IGR logo and a unique serial number.

This side of the assay card includes the Istanbul Gold Refinery logo at the top with a mark denoting its “Americas” distribution group. The weight and metal content are marked below the bar itself along with the IGR website link.

The reverse side of 2.5 Gram Istanbul Gold Refinery Gold Bars has a simple design. The “IGR” initials are repeated across the reverse on a 45-degree angle. The reverse side of the assay card is where you’ll find the security features which IGR has incorporated into its packaging to combat counterfeiting.

In addition to the assayer’s signature and a matching serial number from the bar’s obverse face, you’ll find three important security features. These include two UV-light security features only visible when a UV light is shed on the assay card. A hologram is also used on this face at the bottom of the assay card.

Istanbul Gold Refinery was established in 1996 with the backing of Turkey’s government and treasury, as well as the Istanbul Gold Exchange. IGR earned its accreditation from the London Bullion Market Association in 2011 and Good Delivery standing with COMEX in 2014.
